Paralives Hub Forums General Ideas Town Map vs. World Map

  • Town Map vs. World Map

Hi to anyone who’s reading! So I have an idea, I’m not sure if it’s even possible, but it wouldn’t hurt to suggest right?

I was thinking instead of making multiple different towns to choose from, there’s just one big world With different towns on it similar to the new zone things the Sims 4 has. So basically you’d start the game and then there would be a globe of the Paraworld that you could rotate around and select different sections on Similar to planet zoo. So you could choose a town near the ocean, a town in a desert, or a town in a grassland area, anywhere, and that’s where you’d start.

Then once in the lot you’d have two options of Town map or World map in the UI. When you select the town map it would show you that specific town and the lots in that town, and when you select world map you could see all the different towns on the world like in the beginning, and when you click a town on the world you’d have the option to travel there temporarily or move there permanently (This is something I wish we could have done in sims 3 for Island Paradise) then the para would grab bags or boxes and get in the car. But I’m not sure how this idea would work because the Devs are making a create a WORLD option, although they could make it a create a town option instead, and I’m not sure how many towns would be able to be in one world though, and how it would affect gameplay.

I hope I made sense. Feel free to leave your thoughts, I might post this elsewhere too, thanks for reading :D.

  • This is exactly what i’ve had in mind too especially for building multiple neighborhoods within one world, I like the globe idea too that way it can show different created worlds in a new way rather than a list. Maybe there could be a filter too for quick search by population size (para+lots) and climate

and when you select world map you could see all the
different towns on the world like in the beginning, and when you click a
town on the world you’d have the option to travel there temporarily

Would this be for traveling in between any/different worlds or just towns within the world? I think this would be cool too if we could have a birds eye view to just look around in to the town to see what’s there if that makes sense, which could help those who use CAW to go back and see what needs to be edited and also see if we would like to move our para there based on the area we’re looking at.Like how sims 3 was when we were in a camera mode to look around at the whole town without being a sim. I hope i made sense with that lol

    • I like your ideas too! Especially the birds-eye one, that would be really helpful. For the traveling between worlds questions I was thinking it would be for that specific world but being able to cycle through different worlds and being able to see the towns in them would be a cool option as well

      • That would be cool! Someone in the recent dev chat doc was talking about a globe interface of worlds to move in between towns too, i can’t remember who but i hope it gets considered since they’ve brought attention to it!

  • i’ve been thinking about this one a lot recently and i really hope it can be implemented.

something else i’d love to see is, instead of a loading screen, the paras got in the car and drove to the town they wanted to visit in real paratime (maybe about 30 minutes but this could change depending on the town they were visiting and the mode of transport they were using)

    • I totally agree ! But I think it would be so cool if you could also stop during your trip to eat in a restaurant or sleep in a hotel if you want to do a road trip or something like that!

  • This would be cool to have once they start adding more towns after release, and maybe even player created towns with the world creation tool. If it’s functionally possible, I’d love the ability to create a world map based on multiple smaller zones.

  • I think in one of the recent developer q&as a globe for the neighborhood selection was suggested.

I think it would be cool if it was possible to edit landmass on a global scale (like an entire planet) and then gradually move inwards on a specific landmass and slowly go into more detail. (like Globe -> Continent -> Country -> County -> City/Town -> Neighborhood/District)

Then maybe alongside people sharing custom towns with each other they could share custom planets, filled with countries and cities/towns.

I can see something like this being incredibly complicated but I think it would be so unbelievably amazing to have a feature like that. Even if it was a more scaled back version of it.

Like imagine downloading a custom planet and then having a random move in feature where your parafolk moves into a random city/town on the globe.

  • Awesome idea! This reminds me of a fan-created map idea for ts4. Image credit goes to stellar_roses

It presents the idea that all of the towns in ts4 are connected to make one big world map- it also may not be up to date with the current packs/worlds available

  • I keep thinking about this idea.

Honestly even if it was a flat map (and not a globe) it would be really cool if there was a design-a-map mode where we could draw out a map/land mass (or import our own map) and then add our own map details like roads, water masses and basically anything else you’d expect to see on a map. (modders could get really creative and make ol-timey looking maps for medieval worlds)

Take the flat maps from The Sims 4 but open them up for the player to customize….and also make it more like a world map rather than just individual neighborhoods.

I think this would be such an amazing tool for worldbuilding and roleplay.
