The Paralives Hub Forums Gameplay & Simulation Thoughts on currency value of Paradimes

  • Thoughts on currency value of Paradimes

I just had a thought and was wondering about the paradimes currency in game, would it be just whole dollar values or will they be whole dollar and cents value as well? I think it would be interesting if paradimes had cents value for smaller items like candy, drinks in vending machines, food at grocery stores for example carrots being $0.40 per lb, and if public transportation is a thing having bus fare with whole dollar and cents value.

Then if we are able to have our own businesses and set currencies for items. We’d also be able to have the option to only use cents for pricing. Example: being able to set a used book cost to $0.75

Side note idea: it’d be cool if some items can be titled/configured as used once a para has had it for an extended period of time then wants to resell it or give it away.

I said “No” to Q1 because “I’d like it!” is too enthusiastic and I’m feeling kind of ambivalent. Whole numbers are simpler, but then cents are fun for real life comparisons (for those of us that use dollars and cents). I wouldn’t mind either. I like your idea for used status on items, on a certain game I tend to use the undo function to reverse buying something because by selling the brand new item I’d lose money even though I haven’t even entered live mode yet. If my brand new purchases are worth more than my old stuff I think that would be a cool detail, and save a headache for purchase whoopsies in buy mode.

Yeah its just a matter of how much time should pass (days) by before items are labeled as used.

Not sure how complicated this would be, but for me I think it’d be even more interesting for food especially if a para has little money and they want apples you wouldn’t have to pay for each individual apple costing more money in total, but, each bushel would be a price (with the ability to buy single apple if you wanted) of it’s own getting more bang for their buck.

I don’t like the idea of cents in the game because I don’t feel it adds to gameplay at all. I do like labeling furniture as used maybe after a week. If we can go shopping at a thrift store that would help my poor para.

A thrift store is a cool idea!

I agree with amandac, imo having cents or an equivalent in the game doesn’t add much gameplay-wise. I’d definitely like for items to be marked as “mint, used, as new” etc. but only if there is a way to reverse the effects aesthetically.

I hadn’t thought about aesthetic effects! I’d really just like the sale prices to reflect use.

I hadn’t thought of the appearance of items looking used, but was thinking of it appearing the same as if they first bought it. Mainly because we haven’t heard anything on decaying or objects decaying not that it’s not a possibility. But if they could decay and it’s a optional feature I’d like to be able to turn off the visual appearance if I wanted to resell certain furniture.

as for the cent thing for gameplay i was thinking of it as a money saver, from I was telling sweetchili:
