I’ve read through the Paralives forum and found a little debate/controversy on the inclusion of occults and thought I’d give my own insight on the matter. I think it’d be a good idea to let players choose in the options whether or not to play occults in the game, though I thought it would be interesting to have a realistic take on them if they were to be included. If other players prefer the traditional playstyle of occults seen in the Sims game, then maybe that could be an option too (though that’d be a lot of work for a lot of options for alex)
I can’t give an extensive list for how this would work for every occult, but for example, vampires: instead of the cliché, mythological take on vampires seen on the Sims game, I feel as though vampires should live normal lives alongside humans. They require blood like humans require food and when deprived of it are more prone to following survival instincts, no matter how violent or impulsive, to get said blood. Maybe human food makes them ill (something to do with being unable to digest it or something idk). Maybe vampires with the nice personality trait feel guilt for requiring blood from other Parafolk and may choose to purchase donated blood from hospital staff or a supposed “black market”, and perhaps other vampires are more ashamed and/or reserved of their vampiric needs than others, depending on their own personality traits.
I might update this with a few more examples later, but I hope I got my point across. Opinions?
