In TS2 the option to move out was on the computer or phone – I really like that. To improve on this, we should also be able to decide how much of the family funds the para takes with him allowing him to choose a better home if the family is filthy rich. The paras should also react accordingly to someone moving out of their household.

I agree. i always wanted the option to have separate funds for the Paras. For example if a Para decides to move out they leave with the money they earned with their job. Para’s within the same family could give each other money to. E.g. allowance for kids.

For sure, it used to be so annoying to move out in TS4, and even now nobody reacts to it. Like, you’ve raised this person and them moving out has no affect on you? I hope the moving out system in Paralives is nice and in-depth, like maybe the moving Para wants to move close/far from home depending on their personality, or they don’t want to live in a cheap house after living the life of luxury with their parents.

I like this and I agree, especially on the reactions. I’d expect parents who have a good relationship with their child to be kind of sad, when they move out and same for their child. But perhaps a family with a more strained relationship might be happy to separate. Roomates who’ve known each other for a long time, should miss each other more than those who’ve only lived together for a while.

I think this topic is tangential to one I’ve posted about before, but…
Money in Paralives!?
Not the most interesting topic…I know. But I think that it’s one of those things that will only add to the realism/background of the game. Personally, I think the Sims have not done a thorough job of incorporating finance/economics into their simulation. Here are some ideas I had:
More Realistic Pricing
Obviously the most expensive purchases in paralives should be house, car/boat, and (unfortunately) taxes. Unless there is a college/university included this would also be included in those. For these larger expenses (less taxes) we should be able to take out loans/pay in installments.
But overall a just more realistic pricing range for all items would be better. For example: in no reality should a simple decoration cost anywhere close to a high-end computer or granite top counters.
Another idea, would be to purchase clothing items. Obviously start off with some standards, but as you make more money you buy more clothes (like real life…wild). You could even start this in create a para mode by giving a clothing budget and then when they go to purchase a house they have a housing budget so you’re not locked into just one choice of clothing.
Parafolk should be allowed to invest and donate. Invest in corporations, small businesses, restaurants, and (pause for effect) the imaginary parastock market. Choose between the risky stocks or safer bonds. This adds some behind the scenes fun. There will be some good days and some bad days.
I also think that donating to hospital, police, teachers, etc. should be allowed and rewarded in some sort of way. Maybe through reputation or a moodlet system of some kind. OR a reduction in taxes!
Not something I’ve seen in the sims fyi..could be wrong. But I think the lottery would be a fun occasional surprise (I know this was in the sims). But also casinos with slots or cards games. A gambling skill would be added of course. And since horses are confirmed betting on horse races! Betting on any sports actually!
Bring back the repo man!! When you need to take out loans you’re given the option to put something down as collateral. When you don’t make payments…in comes the repo man. Also, if you don’t pay what you owe from gambling…you know the rest.
I’m talking pension plans and trust funds for future generations. Building up a savings so your elders don’t have to work into their later years.
Unknowns – medical bills and education
Maybe some jobs offer coverage of medical bills should you get sick or get pregnant. Or maybe it’s covered through taxes. Idk how to approach this one without making it complicated. Public school should be paid through taxes…maybe a private school option that you could get scholarships to, but ultimately costs money.
I think Parafolk should also show individual income depending on which character your playing as. There would be an option to see the household income of course but I think part of the fun is having that limitation for kids to not have money unless they earned it from chores, part time jobs, etc. I think it could also be a fun feature when divorces come into play or maybe even lawsuits. Suing for theft, fight, public embarrassment, possibilities are truly endless.
