Hmm, well besides freshen up versions of what Sims got I was thinking like maybe an excitable trait (somewhat like Sims 3’s trait)

that and how about add something like introvert, extrovert, ambivert? and we could be more specific from there? (eg: introverts can’t be an outgoing person, so that trait would be whitelisted for them, you get what I’m saying?)

    or more specific? hmm, maybe:
    -childish
    -mature/professional
    -rude
    -considerate
    -brave
    -scaredy-cat
    -over-achiever (could be perfectionist?)
    -underachiever/slacker?
-easily influenced/spineless (having this trait could easily effects their relationship with others tho XD)
    -copycat
    -sensitive
    -cold hearted

sorry if this list doesn’t really make sense, I just want to share OvO

I like the idea of having sliders PLUS personality points that could be spent on additional traits, because some traits are mutually exclusive. Neat or “clean freak” and sloppy or disorganized for instance, that are the opposite sides of the spectrum for different things. Then again, sloppy and disorganized are not necessarily the same thing, but both are not neat. Sloppy vs. neat could refer to how much surroundings mess tolerance the game character has, or it could refer to how well or badly the game character maintains their physical hygiene. Polite and rude are also other sides of the spectrum, as is good (or kind) and evil (or cruel), and as is serious/silly or brave/cowardly or over-achiever/under-achiever or introvert (loner)/extrovert (social butterfly). Another spectrum could be easily influenced/independent.

Great traits, and maybe a Empathic who can put himself into others feelings and feel the same after he interact with them e.g. feel sad if interact with someone who is sad. Another traits maybe nice to have is a Superstitious, Narcissist, Egomaniac, Spiritual who feel the invisible energies and spirits around or who can connect spiritually with others e.g. people, animals, nature etc, Reaper ( by this i mean a serial killer or something like this and not the Grim Reaper from the sims series ) I can’t think other traits right now but we have so many traits in real life that we can use in our game to make it more realistic 😉

I hope to see personality traits that define the type of parent a Paraperson are. Like traits to be a hands off vs. and hands on/helicopter parent.

The hands off parent would be fine leaving their kids to their own devices and letting them be independent.

The hands on/helicopter parent would stay close to their kids, be happier when they’re together, get sad when they leave to go to school, etc.

Maybe a good idea could be an improvement of accuracy in traits, but from another point of view. What i want to say is not to add tons of traits in the game, but a system that helps the player in the creation of the character. By means of series of question for every traits you can give more details to the final result of personality, so in the end you’ll have a character that is different form the others because of his/her/its peculiarities. An example could be about a trait that we can call ‘coward’. In most of time you can’t be a coward for everithing you see, but you could be scared only about insects and mouses or something else.
So with the help of this system of questions you can create a singular person, unique for his/her/its paritcular traits and it can gives to the player a deeper experience in the final version fo the game.

Me and a couple of others users from discord talked about traits having actual impact on the parafolk. We need meaningful traits.

You know what would be absolutely amazing? A sort of Introvert, Extrovert, Ambivert characterization system. 😀

I’ve never really liked the idea that “Extrovert”, “Introvert”, and such are labeled as specific traits in themselves. I feel like they are more like constructs since one extrovert can be very different in personality to another. Not all extroverts are loud and wild. And being an introvert doesn’t automatically make you shy and hate everyone.

Paralives could possibly have a kind of “character scoring system”

You give your Parafolk specific traits, and seeing that, the game could judge their personality overall as an Extrovert, Introvert, or Ambivert. Certain traits could have a kind of points system that makes it more likely for the character to be placed in which umbrella category.

    – Talkative (+5 extroversion, +2 introversion)
    – Honest (neutral trait, +0 extroversion +0 introversion)
    – Shy (+5 introversion, +2 extroversion)
[These points wouldn’t be there for the player to see.]

By the end of character creation, whatever your character scores the overall highest in, the game would decide which group they belong to. If it’s too close, like only a few points apart, they’d be considered an Ambivert.

This wouldn’t mean that you don’t see the effects of the specific traits you chose for your Parafolk to have, that’s all still their personality. But, I think this could be used in interesting ways regarding social gameplay, to make it feel deeper. I feel like there’s a lot of flexibility and makes the personalities seem more dynamic.

Or maybe I’m being over complicated? Idk, it sounded cool to me. 😛
