I was surprised at first, but I think it’s just an aesthetic choice which will continue to evolve and improve over time. Their build and buy items have certainly become higher quality (imo) as we’ve gone along. My own expectation that it would be more 3D was based purely on experience with other games but I’ve warmed up to the totally different look!
