Since lots are resizable, it would be nice if farmers were free to use their own exisitng land for their farms since they can already be made big enough to manage a farm. But also, if you wanted a smaller farm right in your backyard, that would be possible too.
I think it would be cool to choose between different types of farmers. For example, you could focus on growing vegetables and fruits, making jams or other canned foods, etc. Or you could breed and raise animals like cows, pigs, chicken, fish, etc. for food to sell. With certain animals you could sell their fur/wool for clothes.
As for tools and vehicles, if there is enough space for it, tractors are the most common to accossiate with farms. Also, a barn for animals if you choose to be an animal farmer. Canning and milking machines could be useful if you don’t want to do everything by hand.
